Anyone Believe Zimmerman’s Innocent Yet?

By Cole

More than a month after shooting Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman’s best strategy might be to ask his lawyers, family, and “friends” to shut up already.

Early on, Zimmerman played the victim card, alleging Trayvon jumped HIM. It just doesn’t make sense. Trayvon’s girlfriend was listening on Trayvon’s cell and heard him ask, “Why are you following me?” and then she said the phone sounded like it dropped and went dead. I believe her story because talking to his girlfriend is exactly how a kid walking down the street would occupy himself.

If Trayvon was stalking Zimmerman to jump him, don’t you think he’d first stop yakking and put his phone away so he’d have both hands free?

Zimmerman’s father Robert (a retired judge) claims Trayvon said something like, “You’re gonna die tonight.”

Every new version from Zimmerman’s side makes Trayvon sound thuggier.

Now there’s video of Zimmerman with the police that night. He claimed Trayvon beat his head against the sidewalk and broke his nose, yet refused to go to the hospital. At the station, his clothes look tidy, he doesn’t seem in pain, nor are blood or wounds evident. Hmmm…

Somebody has tried to smear Trayvon by leaking he was on suspension from school over marijuana crumbs found in a baggie in his backpack. Nobody knows if he smoked it.

If Trayvon was a user, it only works in his favor. Potheads are known for outbursts of violent aggression — NOT.

Also leaked was that Trayvon had been suspended 3 times this past year, and may have been involved in a robbery or burglary, as if perhaps he deserved killing. But that didn’t give Zimmerman the right to be his executioner.

Zimmerman’s past includes trouble for assaulting a policeman and once had a restraining order taken out against him by an ex-fiancée.

Zimmerman’s lawyer, Craig Sonner, crazily fled before an interview with Lawrence O’Donnell (to ensuing hilarity), but Trayvon’s family’s lawyer stuck around and raised 2 excellent points:

1) Did the Stand Your Ground law cover Trayvon while he was being pursued by a gun-wielding stranger, making it OK to strike back in self-defense?

2) Can the instigator of a fight claim “self-defense” once he loses the fight, to justify whatever harm he inflicted on his opponent?

And then there’s Joe Oliver, a black guy who’s been making the rounds defending Zimmerman, when it turns out they’re barely acquainted. O’Donnell ripped Oliver a new one, revealing him to be another publicity hound who might say anything.

Lead investigator Chris Serino has said he didn’t believe Zimmerman’s story and wanted to arrest him, but was told to back off.

Trayvon may be dead and unable to defend himself, but nobody’s helping Zimmerman, either.

It’s just a shame that this has morphed into a big racial thing. Strangely enough, the 2 white people who best seem to “get it” are Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann. And the point is…

No kid of ANY race or color should have to worry about getting shot. Crazy guys who shoot kids without provocation need to go to jail. Period.

It all hinges on who actually was the aggessor. If, as Zimmerman claims, he left pursuit and the kid was the bad actor, following Zimmerman because he was angry for being followed himself, and then further if he attacked Zimmerman, at that point MARTIN was not covered by the self defense law and deserved to be at risk for being shot due to his assaulting someone.

Obviously, if Zimmerman did attack the kid with no provocation , then it’s simple murder regardless of the “Stand your ground” which doesn’t apply to agressors.

Welcome, Doug. Good point about Martin, IF he was the agressor. However, nothing in Martin’s past indicates he would ever attack anyone. No violent acts whatsoever, that we’ve heard. Zimmerman, on the other hand, has some well-documented incidents under his belt, AND he thinks he needs to be armed to shop for groceries.

(For the record, Zimmerman grew up in northern Virginia. And we’ve already posted about how some Virginians think you can never have enough guns.)

If Zimmerman had just minded his business and run his errand, and not been scanning the streets looking for trouble, and gotten out of his truck (even after he’d been advised NOT to), Trayvon Martin would be alive and we’d never hear of him.

Geraldo Rivera said the hoodie killed Trayvon. Well, it was the GUN. Yeah, DUH. But unless Zimmerman was waving the gun around, Trayvon probably didn’t even know Zimmerman was armed and only realized it during the scuffle, which instinctively might have made him more desperate to resist. THAT’S what got him killed.

The kid had just been to the store to buy candy, yet Zimmerman’s spokespeople would have us believe Trayvon suddenly morphed into a homicidal maniac for the first time in his life because a crazy white guy in an SUV was stalking him.

I’m thinking that Zimmerman is still on the loose because his daddy is a judge.

Really? The new information now indicates that Martin would very much attack someone. He is a “no limit ni@@er” after all…

  4. catsworking says:

Welcome, Ataboy. So just because the kid wrote with bravado on Facebook, or wherever he posted that, he’s a killer. Might your name really be Zimmerman?

  5. MorganLF says:

    Ataboy you are a douchebag.

  6. Robert says:

Trayvon Used the sidewalk as a deadly weapon. Ask yourself this………

If we met face to face and I broke your nose and Bashed your head in the sidewalk would you shoot me one time to get me off you? Or would you let me continue to beat you.

  7. catsworking says:

Welcome, Robert. You’ve described the type of encounter the Stand Your Ground law was intended to cover. But the fact remains that Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman WOULD NEVER HAVE MET if Zimmerman had minded his business and left the kid alone. He didn’t see Trayvon committing any crime, yet he initiated the encounter.

Yes, I know he claims Trayvon jumped him. Why in heaven’s name would a kid suddenly attack a man while the kid’s visiting a strange neighborhood? Trayvon would have had to have absolute shit for brains.

And in the end, Zimmerman killed an unarmed person HE initially pursued. Zimmerman has alleged a broken nose but nobody’s seen it, and aside from one gash, there seemed to be no evidence of repeated BASHING of the head against concrete — he didn’t even go to the hospital that night after suffering what he claims was serious head trauma. Puleez.

Somebody had shit for brains here, and it wasn’t the one who ended up dead.

  8. Ed says:

I heard there were other break-ins in that neighborhood. Zimmerman had reason to be concerned. The cops say Zimmerman’s back was wet, indicating he was on the ground. Indicating Martin knocked him down as claimed. Witnesses say they saw Martin on top. Zimmerman claims to have been going back to his SUV when confronted by martin. Let the Jury hear all the facts and decide. Not just one side.

  9. catsworking says:

Welcome, Ed! Yes, we’d read that there had been previous break-ins. We also read that one witness claimed to see Zimmerman on top of Martin. Zimmerman has had 45 days to work on plugging the holes in his story so he comes out smelling like a hero. But the fact remains that NOBODY would be dead if Zimmerman had listened to the dispatcher and stayed in his SUV. And if he’d waited another minute or 2 before he turned bloodhound, he could have told the police EXACTLY where Trayvon was staying, since they were only about 70 yards from Trayvon’s destination.

But I agree with you. Let the jury hear all the FACTS, and then decide. I hope the prosecutor has some good forensic evidence. Unfortunately, they will never hear Trayvon’s recollection of events. Zimmerman made sure of that.

One thing I’m wondering about is how Trayvon ended up lying FACE-DOWN on GRASS when he was supposedly straddling Zimmerman, banging his head on the pavement. If while in that position Zimmerman’s gun went off, wouldn’t Trayvon have fallen on top of Zimmerman? What did Zimmerman do, sidle his way gently out from under, then drag Trayvon over to the grass (which would have left marks on Trayvon’s face, being dragged across a sidewalk). Or would Zimmerman have PUSHED UP on Trayvon to get him off, which would have probably flipped Trayvon over on his back?

The fact that Trayvon was found face-down in the GRASS would seem to refute Zimmerman’s claim he was being battered against the sidewalk.

No matter how you slice it, you have to put common sense and some of the facts (as we’ve heard them) on the back burner to believe Zimmerman’s story. We need for the full, TRUE story to be told.
