Should Anita Hill Apologize?

By Adele

Can pigs fly?

Like everybody else, I’m wondering what — other than early-onset dementia — could have possessed Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife, Virginia, to suddenly ring up Anita Hill’s office and leave this message…

“Good morning, Anita Hill, it’s Ginny Thomas. I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something. I would love you to consider an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband. So give it some thought and certainly pray about this and come to understand why you did what you did. Okay have a good day.”

Virginia Thomas later told the press that her motive was to “extend an olive branch.”

Sounded more like a switch to me. Did she really expect Anita Hill to come out of the blue 19 years later and turn her life as a Brandeis University professor upside down by saying she made it all up? That Clarence Thomas was really a swell boss? That she got herself dragged through the mud for nothing?

Has anyone seen Clarence moping around about it, since his alleged misogyny got rewarded with a seat on the Supreme Court?

If anyone should be apologizing here, it should be the Thomases to Anita Hill.

Virginia Thomas founded Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group affiliated to the Tea Party, whose agenda is to wreak havoc with Obama. She was one of the featured speakers at the recent Tea Party shindig held right here in Richmond.

Unfortunately, it’s not illegal for Clarence Thomas to be married to a neocon nut job who uses prayer as a weapon and doesn’t know how to pick her battles. It’s just very disturbing to know this guy has Lady MacBeth trying to pull strings behind him while he’s sitting on the bench.

Adele, I just heard on NPR that Ginny left that voicemail for Anita almost on the same day as the anniversary of Anita’s allegations. Anita, bless her, said she has no intention of apologizing since she did nothing wrong.

It will be interesting to see if Thomas recuses himself from cases which might be Tea Party related. For instance, if a case involving Obama’s health plan makes it to the Supremes, will Clarence recuse himself? Time will tell.

Aside from the fact that her politics identifies her as a nut job from my perspective, that phone call makes me wonder if Ginny doesn’t have some diagnosable mental condition. At minimum it shows poor judgement. I found myself wondering if Ginny and Clarence have a little tiff about Anita’s allegations every year at this time.

Adele, you may be on to something there. Since Ginny has said in interviews that she thinks Anita Hill had a thing for Clarence Thomas, maybe Ginny accused Clarence of fooling around and he’s come back saying it was all Anita, throwing herself at him.

After all these years, it seems Ginny is trying to get Anita to admit she had a crush on Clarence, but he was such a good husband, he spurned her, so she was out for revenge.

The only hitch to that (I learned from NBC news last night) is that Anita Hill passed a lie detector test.

Now it seems to me that Thomas got confirmed to the court because nobody wanted to be accused of derailing “uppity black people” (I think that was his term). HE turned a nonracial sexual harassment matter into discrimination by playing the race card, and Congress fell for it.

I believe her nickname is quite apropos…..Have tou seen her? I fear Miss Ginny has been at the gin!

Roger Ebert just tweeted that he’s waiting for his phone call from Ginny Thomas.

I saw somewhere that she spells her nickname “Ginni.”

My favorite moment was seeing her make a speech somewhere with spikes coming out of her head like the Status of Liberty.

Clarence Thomas must find her an endless source of amusement, with her wacky headgear and prank phone calls.

Anita Hill did the right thing… turning it over to the campus police who turned it over to the FBI so it could go public! Isn’t it GRAND that Clarence will get to decide (eventually) on whether or not gay people are sexual deviants? He has all the credentials he needs… being one himself!

In the paper today, Anita Hill was catching some crap for doing anything with the message and being a media hound. They just she should just have ignored it, since it wasn’t harassing (I guess the urge to prayer made it “nurturing”), and Mrs. Thomas didn’t follow up.

Once again, they ignore the facts. Many other people besides Hill who knew Clarence Thomas back in those days have gone on the record agreeing that he was a bit of a sicko about sex.

Personally, I think any Supreme Court justice whose wife is actively trying to bring down the sitting president should be raked over the coals and eliminated from deliberating on any case relating to the administration’s policies.

Maybe Clarence can moonlight as a greeter at Walmart in his spare time.

Her actions are despicable and bordeline treasonous. I hate to say it but she if proof of what is commonly said about black men and fat white chicks.
Jacob Heilbrunn summed it up nicely:
