Subaru Has Gone to the Dogs

By Cole

To start your weekend with a laugh, let me introduce you to the Thelma and Louise of the canine world — Olive and Zelda.

Zelda is a Golden Retriever retriever mix who was born in Kansas City, but she now lives in Minneapolis.

Olive is a Shar Pei mix from Denver. Don’t you think she looks like a dog version of Yul?

Anyway, both dogs were formerly strays rescued by the ASPCA, but they found good homes and are becoming STARS shilling for Subaru.

Subaru claims nearly half their customers are dog owners, so they appreciate that the cars are all being “Dog tested. Dog approved.”

There are 7 commercials in the series, but #3 is my favorite. You’ll understand why when you watch it.

The ads are cute, but they also highlight that, driving skills aside, dogs do a lot of dumb things.

    Hi Cole!
I don’t have any use for dogs and I HATE riding in cars, but, the Human was amused by this(she is easily entertained)

Zappa, I know what you mean. Karen liked those Subaru commercials a lot more than we did. Personally, I wouldn’t let a dog drive me to the vet.

But cats got behind the wheel first. Yul told me about Toonces, the Driving Cat, who used to appear on Saturday Night Live. Check this out…

    That Toonces video was hilarious!

Toonces looked like the former matriarch here, Ginger. Mom Joan always tells us that we cats would do what happened in a commercial where a man was dumped out of his own van by his dogs. He was left sitting in the street so the driving dog could pick up more dogs. Mom said we’d leave her in the street and go to PetSmart!

    Now that’s funny!
