Susan Boyle & Pebbles Have Split

By Cole

In case you’re deaf or have been living under a rock, Susan Boyle is that middle-aged woman who came in second on Britian’s Got Talent, driving everyone crazy incessantly singing that song from Les Miserables until someone offered her a CD deal so she’d have to learn some new tunes.

Previously, Susan lived alone with her cat Pebbles in a little village called Blackburn.

Susan’s new CD did well, and now she’s traveling the world. Bringing Pebbles along wasn’t practical, and Pebbles probably would have hated life in a carrier anyway.

So the 11-year-old pedigreed Turkish swimming cat has been shacking up in London with a 76-year-old retired accountant named Pamela, who already had 2 cats, Truffles and Sapphire.

(Anyone know why Brits name their cats after small objects?)

Pamela was told the boarding was temporary, but Pebbles has been there since July 2009. Susan has only visited Pebbles 3 times, and Pebbles hid from her the last time.

Pamela is paid 4 British pounds a day for Pebbles’ upkeep, but says it barely covers Pebbles’ pricey wet food, Royal Canin dry, and people chicken and fish.

Since it seems unlikely Susan will be giving up celebrity to retire in obscurity, it seems that big-city life for Pebbles may be purr-manent.

You could have done a lot worse, Peb. At least you didn’t end up in “the joint,” like I once did.

    Hi Cole!
Roughly 7 USD a day for food? I thought I was spoiled with my organic food(wet and dry) Not only am I just a little annoyed,I’m thinking a lamp needs to hit the floor…..

Zappa, I didn’t know how to translate pounds to dollars, so thanks. You’re right! $49 a week to feed one cat is pretty outrageous.

Yul’s dry food goes for about $45 a bag, but it feeds him for WEEKS. Mine and Adele’s is $33, and DITTO. And Karen complains. She’s lucky we’re not making her steam lobsters and grill us filet mignon every day.

On the other hand, wasn’t Susan Boyle unemployed before she hit the big-time? I wonder how she was able to afford feeding Pebbles all that pricey stuff.

  3. Adele says:

Cole, one thing you don’t have to worry about is Karen pulling a Susan Boyle on you three. If Karen ever hits the big time, she may take a few more cruises or go on the occasional book tour, but the three of you will always have a permanent residence with her, if if she were to travel, I’m sure you’d have a live-in cat nanny of whom you approved. I’m confident of this — and think of all the cool new toys you’d get, AND you might even have your own cook.

Adele, coming from my background, the question is always in the back of mind, “When is this cushy gig going to end?”

You’ve known Karen longer than I have, and Yul has been here 13 years and Adele 9, so I guess Karen has proven she can be trusted not to cut us loose to fend for ourselves.

I must admit I am growing accustomed to my new lifestyle of pampered pet.

Hi Cole and Crew! Well, that old bat! And here Mom and I like her and her singing! Doesn’t she know Pebbles was her support thru thick and-well, mostly thin! We don’t want Pebbles to have to suffer thru being put in a carrier and cargo holds so, hey Susan! Get rid of that apartment in that bad neighborhood, get real nice digs with your lucre, and spoil Pebbles with her own PURR-sonal assistant!

  6. catsworking says:

Tuxi, I think that is a great idea. Pebbles deserves her own domain, not to share it with 2 resident cats who probably don’t like her. Sure, she’s got a roof over her head and she seems to be getting the good food, but it’s not the same as a real home of her own. I know.

Corrigan Brothers Ireland the band who had the international hit “There’s no one as Irish as Barack Obama”

I’m Pebbles Boyle Spare a thought for me

Ansd how Pebbles is coping after being rejected

Welcome, ger. I’m not sure what this is all about, nor what your connection to Pebbles really is. Perhaps she likes your music?
