Obama, the Heartless Predator

By Yul

The way the media has been carrying on about Obama killing a fly on camera, you’d think he also ate it. I’ve seen the moment replayed at least a dozen times, and yesterday it was one of the lead stories on the Today Show — a new low, even for them.

PETA got upset, telling Obama he should have used a more humane way to dispatch the pest. Would they be foaming at the mouth if it had been a maggot crawling on his arm?

How about a mosquito, a tick, or a black-widow spider?

The fly had it coming. He breached White House security, flitting right past the metal detectors and the Secret Service. He could have been a tiny terrorist carrying a microscopic bomb that would have leveled Pennsylvania Avenue if not for Obama’s pre-emptive strike.

That’s the spin Dick Cheney would have put on it, after shooting the fly’s face off with a rifle.

But I believe what’s more important than Obama’s action here is what Obama was thinking. Was his coordination heightened because he imagined the fly to be Rush Limbaugh? We’ll probably never know.

Speaking of Limbaugh, that gasbag yesterday was bemoaning the fact that he crushed a fly with his shoe on his TV show in 1995 and nobody made a big fuss about it.

I guess that’s because flies swarming around the putrid stench of Limbaugh’s rhetoric is nothing extraordinary.

But in their over-zealous coverage of this non-event, if our news media is trying to warn other world leaders that Obama would kill a fly in spite of the way he talks sometimes, we’re in worse shape than I thought.

I guess it really is a slow news day when the talking heads can dedicate this much time to a man swatting a fly…

No need to worry about civil war in Sudan, The destruction of schools for girls in Afghanistan and Pakistan, or heaven forbid covering the upheaval going on in Iran.

I am the great and terrible OZ, no need to worry bout whats behind the curtain, here lets look at the fly getting squished again…..

  2. Deb says:

I just have to say that anyone who doesn’t swat a fly is a big sicko. I’m just sayin’!

I think it may be in my link to PETA in the post, but I read somewhere they have sent Obama a “humane” fly trap so in the future he can catch and release them outside — where they can pester everybody else.

On some things, PETA’s heart is in the right place although their methods are frequently wacko, but not on this one. That fly needed killin’.

  4. Bob says:

On the PETA side of things the Granddaughter of my revolutionary name sake has taken up the PETA cause.

She appears in ads for the Movement wearing a Ammo Belt full of Carrots.. Now I get the wanting to change things and maybe I am stuck in the status quo.. But I just don’t know bout her…

I Don’t Know Why He Swatted the Fly I guess We’ll Die.

These Peta douche bags give me a pain…so does fat Rush (to the table)Limbaugh. I’m so worked up I’m fixin to……..

Sorry back now just saw some flies on my terrace and I had to run out with a towel and swat them , nailed two! I shkeeeeeeve them, yeccchh. Gotta run got a big fat burger on the grill.

  6. catsworking says:

Bob, that’s your GRANDDAUGHTER? Holy crap! She’s gorgeous!

  7. catsworking says:

Watch it, Morgan, or PETA will be sending you a humane fly trap, too. Which makes me wonder where they stand on Venus Flytraps? Heartless predators like Obama, or just doing what nature intended? Do they go around putting tiny little muzzles on them?

  8. Gary says:

At least the fly found peace on Twitter! http://twitter.com/aflyobamakilled

  9. catsworking says:

Gary, that is hilarious! Thanks for sending! We’re so glad the fly is in a better place now.

  10. Che "Not that Che" says:

First I become an Uncle on here now apparently I have grandchildren?!?! Jeeze people let this Canuck enjoy his fathers day first before you make me a Grandpappy. 🙂

But since I have stolen Che’s name for my own socialist musings, thanks for the compliment…

I just watched Michael Moore’s Sicko the other day, if half of what he says about the US medical system is true then it is truly fucked….

Happy Fathers Day all you Dad’s out there!!!

    Strangely Craving a Carrot 😉

  11. catsworking says:

Ha, ha, ha! I just reread your last post and realized she’s not YOUR granddaughter. You should be so lucky.

Michael Moore’s Sicko has his usual bit of hyperbole, but basically we think he’s accurate. The facts are the facts, much as the neocons would wish they weren’t.

Actually, it’s a good thing for Unkie Bob that Senorita Guevara is no relation. It lets him lust after her with out getting that icky feeling. She is a knockout!

  13. MorganLF says:

She has her grandfather’s looks Che was FINE…I had his poster in my little room as a teen.

  14. Adele says:

And I had that famous poster in my dorm room. Morgan, we seem to have many similar tastes. I was so moved (read blinded by lust) by Che that I had very minor fantasies about going to the jungle and helping advance La Revolucion. Of course, I hate bugs; I was not a fine physical specimen even then, and I didn’t know that by the time he got to Bolivia, Che had had plastic surgery to alter his appearance. I’m a little curious to see Steven Soderbergh’s Che movie, but it’s such a time commitment. On the other hand, I’ve always liked Benicio Del Toro’s looks.

BTW, there was another single released by Richard Chamberlain, called “Three Stars Will Shine Tonight.” It put words to the Dr. Kildare theme.

  15. MorganLF says:

I admit I admired Che a wealthy man’s son rejecting a life of privilege it appealed to my lefty sensibilities. I think I remember that song too, wasn’t it on the flip side of the 45?

BTW just heard Michael Jackson died and Farrah!
